Meet Steve Kowit; a poet who knows it.

Steve is a beloved SoCal poet who has been a professor at Southwestern College for decades. He's taught a myriad of workshops for over 30 years inspiring novice and accomplished poets alike. His thumbprints include the anthology The Maverick Poets as well as The Gods of Rapture (a collection sparked by the amatory poetry of India), The Dumbbell Nebula, and Lurid Confessions. His gold stars include the New Yorker, the Los Angeles Times, Ploughshares, the Sun, and Yoga Journal. Quintessential guidance for writing poetry comes from our favourite In the Palm of Your Hand. We are honoured to welcome a ruthless hippie directly from the Haight. Please join us and give this man a Quack! at Ducky's June 22nd doors at 7PM, poetry 7:15PM, guest @ 9PM.

PRE SHAUX

You heard about Mad House VI yah? You know, that amazing night of live electronic music, dancing and art taking place at the Belly Up on 4/20? The one where we're raising money to support Ducky Waddle's Emporium through an insanely sweet silent auction with works from Mary Fleener, Shepard Fairey and more? Well, guess what?

We're doing a pre- Mad House VI show live at the Duck, for those of you who can't get enough Mad House or can't get out on Wednesday or just aren't old enough to enter the Belly Up.

Come see awesome electronic duo: Gaux Nu Vaux play a special acoustic set, and catch 'Ruckus/Freak for All' regular Starfish (aka Molly Mackin) open up the night with her golden voice.

This show is free, but we are suggesting a donation of books, CD's or anything else you think might be bitchin' new inventory for the Duck. Just don't be offended if Jerry puts it in the dollar bin!

Ed Coonce Set to Massacre Ducky Waddle's Poetry Ruckus

This WEDNESDAY, MARCH 23rd is our next Ducky Waddle's Poetry Ruckus with doors at 7 PM, poetry starting at 7:15 and our guest of honor Ed Coonce going on at 9 PM. If you are familiar with the Ruckus, then you surely have heard Ed's starkly hilarious poems and short stories before. And if you are new to the Ruckus, then you certainly will not want to miss this performance from the man whose musings range from Caliphate paranoia to Tarantino-esque Teletubby blood baths. A Ruckus of epic proportions to be sure! Don't miss it.

Ducky Waddle's Emporium is @ 414 N Coast Highway 101, Encinitas CA 92024

Please send me an RSVP email ASAP if you would like to read. Please bring anything you would like to read that fits in at under five minutes.
